The attribution was suggested by F. Meijer. A comparable view by Cradock (c.1660?-1716) shows frightened ducks with a diving bird, with reeds in the background. Cradock's approximate date of birth makes it unlikely that this was a Cartwright picture, although it appears to agree with his taste. It was probably restored for the College in 1815 and was otherwise first described as being in the College in 1890.
