A 'Hobbema' signature was recorded in 1874, but the attribution to Hobbema was rejected by Richter in 1880 in favour of Dubois. This attribution is accepted by J. Giltay (letter on file, 1996). The subject, as Giltay notes, would imply a date after 1653.
