description
Two halves of a single sketch for the ceiling of the Triumph of Diana which survives in the first-floor salone of the Villa Cornaro at Merlengo. In the sketch, the ceiling had two viewpoints - one at each end. In the finished ceiling, however, the elements were rearranged to create a single viewpoint from one of the long sides, the composition becoming more open. Datable c.1750. Rejoined 2003.
